It’s been long rumored, but the veil of secrecy has finally been lifted and Warner Bros has revealed their lineup of DC movies through 2020! Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara made the announcement today during the Time Warner Investor Day revealing that Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice will be joined by a movie based on Suicide Squad in 2016. The movie will focus on a team of imprisoned supervillains who are tasked with taking on high-risk black-ops missions in exchange for commuted prison sentences. The studio is currently in talks with four A-list stars to take on roles and Suicide Squad will arrive in theaters on August 5th, 2016. The following year will see the arrival of the long planned Justice League movie as well as a standalone Wonder Woman film starring Gal Gadot. No specific release dates were mentioned, but Wonder Woman will most likely arrive first on June 23rd, 2017 with Justice League hitting theaters on November 17th with Zack Snyder set to direct. Justice League members The Flash and Aquaman will get their own movies in 2018. The Flash will arrive in theaters on March 23rd, 2018 and star The Perks of Being a Wallflower’s Ezra Miller as the super fast hero. No word yet on which version of the character he’ll be playing or if we can expect to see him make a cameo in 2016’s Batman v Superman, but considering he’s already been cast, the odds are pretty good. Jason Momoa will star as Aquaman and will get his own film come July 27th, 2018. Momoa has long been rumored to be playing Aquaman and is expected to be introduced in Batman v Superman. We already know Dwayne Johnson will play Black Adam in Shazam and we now know that film will arrive in theaters on April 5th, 2019. Also in 2019 will be a Justice League sequel, hitting theaters on June 14th. Zack Snyder will once again direct. And finally, in one of the most surprising announcements, Ray Fisher will get his own movie based on Cyborg, who has previously been confirmed for Batman v Superman. Cyborg will open on April 3rd, 2020 followed by a new Green Lantern movie set for June 19th, 2020. No word on who will play Green Lantern, but don’t expect Ryan Reynolds to reprise his role. There are also plans for standalone Batman and Superman movies, but no word yet on when we can expect those. In addition to the DC movie news, it was also announced that JK Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, set in the world of Harry Potter, will arrive in theaters in 2016, 2018 and 2020. We will also get a slew of new LEGO movies, with Ninjago set for 2016 followed by The LEGO Batman Movie in 2017 and The LEGO Movie 2 in 2018. Whew, so lots to take in and while you’re processing it all, go ahead and click here to check out our list of 7 things that we think need to happen in Batman V Superman.
