Doom Eternal Multiplayer Review

Reviewed on PC by Ryan McCaffrey. FYI, this review specifically covers the Battlemode multiplayer side of Doom Eternal. For our thoughts on the campaign, check out the single-player review.

In summary: Doom Eternal is a game that demands and respects player skill, and while Battlemode doesn’t allow you to put yours to the ultimate test on a traditional level playing field, it is nevertheless a clever mode that’s a lot of fun if you’re willing to give it a try and get to know its nuances.

  1. I can't stand this mode, as a player that played through the campaign with the aerial mobility perk… i still haven't lost as a Slayer tho, stickies, sniper shot and self detonate rockets are op

  2. Just imagine if this had an Arena style TDM mode, make it like quake, only with the Doom Eternal movement system. It could even have some sort of glory kill mechanic on other players. I just imagine this crazy hectic arena battle where people are flying all over the place, climbing on walls, going through portals, etc.

There could be a mode where players could play as the Doom Slayer or a Demon and they could choose which demon they want to play. Not like the 1v2 mode right now, but a deathmatch arena.

  3. In subtitles instead of “Doom Eternal” it says “Jumma Turtles” lmao it says and I quote “the campaign in jumma turtles is so meaty and delicious it’ll give you that diamond slang!”

    I’m SOLD

  4. Love this multiplayer i pressure as marauder and my friend supports with archvile haven’t lost one game yet and i know we’ve played at least 80 matches

  5. I think the balance of the multiplayer only really works when played on PC because of the greater ease of aiming. I made the mistake of buying it for my PS4 because my PC is a bit old now and on a gamepad, the matches heavily skew towards the demons. I've played about 40 or so matches so far with randoms and I have yet to see the slayer win a single one, whether played by myself or anyone else.

  6. Id actually totally scrap multiplayer. DOOM traditionally has always been a single player game. Id so much rather they just focused on giving us a very very long way of playing single player. Either with horde mode or some style of MMO style progression but only single player
